2 years, 24 months.  Seems so long and so short at once.  We planted tulip bulbs last year, and now they're in bloom.

Donated blood for the first time today.  It went well:  first they asked me extensively about my health, and then they checked my blood pressure/iron levels before giving me the OK.  Once I was on the gurney, I tried not to look at the needle and bag apparatus.  I’m not naturally squeamish when it comes to those things, but I decided to play it ( Read more... )

Well, I hope the past week doesn't set the tone for the rest of 2010, because it kicked my a**!  Despite staying at work late, I went to bed most days thinking of what I still had to do, which is never a good sign. TGIF - seriously.

I’m still standing.  Everyone got their fruit, bagels and coffee.  Although, these full Fridays (Summer Fridays ended two weeks ago) just might finish me off.  So far my most pressing concern of the day:  sushi, or one of those scrumptious deli sandwiches with artisan bread?  Sorry to sound so frou-frou, but this one deli is worth it.

...my family and I were in the Philippines, celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary.  We had Mass in the historic church they got married in, and my parents treated all our relatives to a leisurely afternoon lunch.

This year it was a quieter affair, but we remembered the good times all the same.

The only downside to a long July 4th weekend?

The very itchy sunburn afterwards.

I thought I covered up pretty well, until I hit the water and realized, oh shoot my sunblock is a quarter mile away from where I am now.  So my chest is a shade of red...sigh.  I was happy to be out in the sun and sand, though.  I love Fire Island--it's far away enough ( Read more... )

 
Cemeteries are kinda weird, I have to admit.

I went on my own for the first time today.  At first I was just clearing dead flowers and other debris, and trying not to freak out while doing so because I saw a HUMONGOUS centipede-like bug crawling around one of the flower pots.  I don't think me screaming around a peaceful cemetery would be ( Read more... )
